lyrics
Wir haben den Boden mit Blut getränkt
Unsre Pferde durch einsame Weiten gelenkt
Glaubten uns verloren in stürmischer Nacht
Und niemand hat unsrer Seelen gedacht
Durch Sturm und Schlamm sind wir gefahren
Durch dieses Land, verwüstet, verbrannt
Und niemand weiß um unsere Qualen
Verloren, verbannt, vergessen, verkannt
In der Götter Sturm fanden wir unser Ende
In Not und Kampf, in der Weltenwende
Verzweiflung und Ohnmacht in blutigem Reigen
Dann nur noch Stille und Kälte und Schweigen
Und einsam liegen wir begraben
In fernem Land, entwurzelt, verbrannt
Und niemand weiß um unsere Taten
Verloren, verbannt, vergessen, verkannt
Verloren, verbannt, vergessen, verkannt
Und einsam liegen wir begraben
In fernem Land, entwurzelt, verbrannt
Und niemand weiß um unsere Taten
Verloren, verbannt, vergessen, verkannt

This might be my favourite of Heilung. They've improved a bit on their later releases but their debut is still much meaner, and darker. Maria's amazing voice obviously steals the show but I also quite like Kai's too, especially on the live performance. In fact I'd say get LIFA over this IMO.
The spoken word bits are really cool to hear proto-germanic in use but for relistening purposes they are going to be a bit obtrusive. Nevertheless the proper music here is on continual repeat for me. Rabbit

Easily my favorite Jännerwein album, and a great conclusion to an amazing band. Almost every song on this album is my favorite. Eine Hoffnung helped me get through some tough times, and I will absolutely never forget this album. Neofolk with an Austrian alpine flair. I really cannot recommend this album enough. The Oakland singer's latest album imagines the power struggle between man and nature as a slow, steady tempest of dark folk. Bandcamp New & Notable Nov 20, 2019

The atmosphere of this album is fantastic. Makes you feel like you're knee-deep in the trenches drenched in mud, filth, sweat, and blood. Truly encapsulates the horrors of World War I, and the fact that the lyrics of some of the songs are taken from old war letters really adds to the authenticity.
